In Working Condition. Made in New Jersey, by the firm of F. G. Otto & Sons. The inventor was Ferdinand Schaub, who was in Otto's employ. It was marketed initially by M. J. Paillard of New York in November, 1896. Like a previous brand that Otto manufactured, this one was also challenged by the Regina Company (maker of the Regina Music Box) over patent infringements, and was replaced by another brand, the Olympia. The Mechanical Pipe Action Probably From England or Germany Has Four (4) Stops and a Drum. Plays Ten (10) Tunes, and Eight (8) Barrels Accompany the Instrument. When Resoration Work was Done to the Bellows, Classified Ads from the New Haven Register Dated 1804 were found Pasted Inside. The Box is in Good Working Order. Provenance: The Stiles Family of Woodbury Ct. Lt. Francis Stiles Built a House in Southbury, Ct. on the Woodbury Town Line in 1740. Then by Descent traced until 1987.
